MAE in Hawai'i - Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience Installation

September 7th, 2017 - 19:00 MAE (Norfolk, Virginia) hosted a small event in Waikiki, offering a one-on-one (m)ultisensory (a)esthetic (e)xperience which included music, visualizations in virtual reality, haptic vibrations and scent. Everyone in attendance took turns listening to a specially made instrumental track while wearing a vest which sent vibrations to different contact points throughout the song.  At the same time, you would view visuals through a virtual reality view-finder. Each person's experience was unique, as the visuals changed depending on the direction you looked. At a specific point during the track, drummer, Jacob Marshall would light incense and waft it near your nostrils, adding yet another dimension to the experience. Afterwards, each person wrote down their impressions into a notebook. Meanwhile, Dave and Zach entertained everyone else with acoustic versions of some of their songs from their sixteen year career as a band since MAE's inception in 2001.
