BABYMETAL Distortion [MV]
BABYMETAL (ベビーメタル) are a concept band from Japan created by music producer, Kei Kobayashi (a.k.a. Kobametal) of Amuse, Inc. in 2010. In 2009, Kobayashi came up with an idea of combining the music of J-pop idol groups (such as Morning Musume and AKB47) with Heavy Metal. Thus, BABYMETAL was formed, sparking a trend and giving birth to a new genre known as "kawaii (Japanese for "cute") metal."
The band is fronted by three young female vocalists: Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal); and are backed by a live band known as Kami Band. At the time of their formation, the girls were aged 12, 10 and 10. Within the past eight years, they have released two studio full-length albums, two live albums and numerous singles; toured Japan, U.S.A. and the U.K.; and have shared stages with Metallica and Lady Gaga.
BABYMETAL kicked off their WORLD TOUR 2018 by releasing Distortion as a surprise single on May 8th, 2018.
