Rappers, Jean Grae and Quelle Chris are breaking molds and making gold on their latest collaboration, Everything's Fine, released on Mar.30th, 2018 on Mello Music Group. The album title sheds light on the habit of saying that "Everything is fine," when really, it's not. Perhaps it's a hollowed out conditioned response, a means to quickly dodge further having to explain ourselves and our circumstances, or it's an attempt to lie to ourselves.

Our current world is seemingly riddled with face-palm inducing news feeds and daily dystopian uncertainty with the occasional threat of war; but rather than succumbing to depression, cynicism or turning into misanthropes; Jean Grae & Quelle Chris make art that dissects social stereotypes, slings satire, and takes hip-hop far beyond its cliches, and instead moves into sonically adventurous realms.

The album is smart, experimental, and just really fun. I've used enough big words for today. Just listen to it.

BABYMETAL (ベビーメタル) are a concept band from Japan created by music producer, Kei Kobayashi (a.k.a. Kobametal) of Amuse, Inc. in 2010. In 2009, Kobayashi came up with an idea of combining the music of J-pop idol groups (such as Morning Musume and AKB47) with Heavy Metal. Thus, BABYMETAL was formed, sparking a trend and giving birth to a new genre known as "kawaii (Japanese for "cute") metal."

The band is fronted by three young female vocalists: Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal), Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal); and are backed by a live band known as Kami Band. At the time of their formation, the girls were aged 12, 10 and 10. Within the past eight years, they have released two studio full-length albums, two live albums and numerous singles; toured Japan, U.S.A. and the U.K.; and have shared stages with Metallica and Lady Gaga.

BABYMETAL kicked off their WORLD TOUR 2018 by releasing Distortion as a surprise single on May 8th, 2018.
